Profiling mRNA in FFPE with the HTG EdgeSeq Oncology Biomarker Panel

Message RNA (mRNA) conveys genetic information from DNA to the ribosome for protein synthesis.  While every cell contains an entire genome, every tissue type has a unique expression profile. Tumor tissues exhibit abnormal profiles when compared to their normal counterparts, and tumor profiling can further elucidate the characteristics of a particular cancer.

The example above illustrates the use of a quantitative nuclease protection assay (qNPA) to effectively characterize and differentiate tumor types. Samples A, C, F and J are clearly HER-2 positive while samples B, E, G, and I are ESR1/PGR positive. Samples D and H are “triple negative” for ESR1, PGR and HER2; however, they are upregulated in EGFR as highlighted in the subchart.

HTG is currently developing the HTG EdgeSeq Oncology Biomarker Panel, which will enable profiling 2,560 oncology biomarkers. This product is expected to have wide utility across multiple tumor types, and can potentially enable discovery of unique tumor profiles.
