Our management team consists of nationally recognized and seasoned veterans in the molecular diagnostics and biotechnology industry.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Johnson joined HTG Molecular in January 2008 from LVC Consulting, where he was a partner. Prior to LVC, Mr. Johnson served as a senior vice president with Ventana Medical Systems, where he oversaw manufacturing operations, quality, strategic marketing, corporate development, and product technical support during his five years with the company. He had previously served as vice president of global marketing at Hill-Rom Company, a subsidiary of Hillenbrand Industries, and as vice president/general manager of Hill-Rom Airshields where he directed North American operations, and lead the global strategic planning team. Mr. Johnson also serves on the board of directors for Kalypto Medical. He earned a BS in business from Indiana University.
Founder, Vice President of R&D and Chief Science Officer
Dr. Seligmann founded High Throughput Genomics (now HTG Molecular) in 1997. An internationally recognized scientist, Dr. Seligmann began his scientific career at the NIH-NIAID, Laboratory of Clinical Investigation, and then joined Ciba-Geigy (Novartis). There he led the drug discovery programs within the department of molecular biology, inflammation, and osteoarthritis research. As one of the inventors and developers of the intellectual property forming the basis of the array plate and qNPA technology, Dr. Seligmann’s vision is to provide this time and cost saving technology to assist the advancement of research, drug discovery and the development of better therapies and diagnostics, which ultimately provide better patient care and quality of life.
Vice President of Finance, Administration and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. McMeans joined HTG Molecular in February, 2012, and leads the organization’s finance and administration groups. Immediately prior to joining HTG Molecular, Mr. McMeans served as the CFO for Securaplane Technologies in Tucson. McMeans’ extensive experience includes positions as CFO of The Long Companies, interim CFO with Fluoresco and Inter-Fab, and as the CFO and COO of LXU Healthcare, Inc. Mr. McMeans moved to Tucson in 2000 from Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he enjoyed a twelve-year career in finance at Burnham Corporation. Mr McMeans earned a B.S. in Accounting from Penn State University.
Chief Business Officer
Mr. Lubniewski joined HTG Molecular in April 2011 and leads sales, marketing and product development in the company’s three strategic business areas of Pharma Services, Discovery and Diagnostics. Prior to joining HTG Molecular, Mr. Lubniewski served in a variety of senior management positions at Ventana Medical Systems/Roche Tissue Diagnostics. These roles included General Manager of Ventana’s Molecular Discovery Systems research tools business and Sr Vice President of the Advanced Staining and Companion Diagnostic business units where he was responsible for the companion diagnostic service business (and CAP/CLIA laboratory) as well as several diagnostic instrument platform development programs and PMA/510(k) approvals/clearances. Prior to Ventana, Mr Lubniewski worked for Corning Inc. in the Life Science Division, Corporate Marketing and Corporate Research and Development. Mr. Lubniewski earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University.
Vice President, Chief Legal Counsel
Dr. Gordon joined HTG in June 2011 and advises the company on all legal matters, guides and executes the development of the intellectual property strategy, and leads human resources activities. Throughout her career, she has gained valuable and diverse legal experience as a business transactional and intellectual property attorney at leading U.S. and international law firms. Dr. Gordon earned her Juris Doctor degree with honors from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law.
Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations
BJ Kerns joined HTG Molecular in March 2008 and is responsible for companion diagnostics, commercial and marketing activities globally and direction of HTG Molecular’s strategic planning and business development activities. Ms. Kerns earned an AAS in Medical Technology from Elon College in North Carolina and a BS in Health Care Management from Century University in New Mexico. She earned a certification in Managing Strategic Resources from Darden Executive Education at the University of Virginia.
Vice President of Medical Innovation
Mr. Roberts joined HTG Molecular in April, 2012. He is responsible for the development of the organization’s key opinion leader network and building a diagnostic product concept portfolio that will drive validated concepts into IVD development or out-licensing. Prior to joining HTG Molecular, Roberts served as vice president of the oncology division at Caris Life Sciences in Dallas, Texas. Earlier in his career, he held a number of positions at Ventana Medical Systems, a member of the Roche Group, including director roles in the molecular diagnostic and strategic marketing divisions. Mr. Roberts earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Duke University.
Vice President, Business Development
Mr. Wineman joined HTG Molecular in July 2010. He was formerly director of business development at Philips, Electron Optics Division (FEI) in Eindhoven, The Netherlands and director of corporate development at Ventana Medical Systems in Tucson, Arizona. At HTG Molecular, Mr. Wineman directs the development and growth of business to business relationships with focus on intellectual property, collaborations and key content. He earned a BS in Biology from Oregon State University and an MBA from San Diego State University.
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Ball joined HTG Molecular in February 2011 from BHM Partners, where he was a partner. Prior to BHM, Mr. Ball held various operational positions with a number of major medical device and clinical diagnostic firms such as Ventana Medical Systems Inc., Hill-Rom Inc., Dade-Behring Inc. and Bristol Myers-Squibb. Mr. Ball earned a BS in operations management from National University in San Diego, California and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida.
Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Systems
Mr. Rua joined HTG Molecular in November 2011 and directs the quality systems organization as well as global regulatory initiatives. Prior to joining HTG, Mr Rua served in a variety of quality and regulatory roles with increasing responsibilities, most recently with Ventana Medical Systems, a member of the Roche Diagnostics Group, where he successfully led initiatives for PMA approvals and clearances for multiple IVD and companion diagnostic tests. He was the VP of Global Regulatory and Clinical Affairs at Beckman Coulter prior to re-joining Ventana. Mr. Rua was also the Executive Director of Quality and Regulatory at Third Wave Technologies, Inc. (now Hologic), where he led the regulatory and clinical strategies for the Invader® UGT1A1 test and the Invader® HPV test. Mr Rua received his Bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Arizona.
Vice President of Clinical Diagnostic Development
Dr. Holzer joined HTG Molecular in January 2012 and leads the clinical diagnostic development department. Prior to joining HTG, Dr. Holzer has spent over 25 years in diagnostic development in both large and small diagnostic companies in the US and Canada. Dr. Holzer has directed diagnostic teams at DiagnoCure, Centocor, Cancer Genetics as well as leading cross functional teams earlier in his career at Abbott Laboratories and the Whitehead Institute. Dr. Holzer received his BA from the University of Minnesota, his MA from Mankato State University and his PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
